The Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) Telescope is a $1.4 billion dollar international astronomy facility consisting of 66 radio telescope antennas that are 7-12 meters (23-39 feet) in diameter.The ALMA Telescope will be located in Chile at an elevation of 16,500 feet.

The Atacama mountain plateau is one of the world’s highest anddriest locations in the world. ALMA is an equal partnership between Europe (ESO) and United States (NRAO). When completed ALMA will be the world’s largest and most sensitive instrument in the field of millimeter wavelength astronomy.

Project Management Consulting & Systems Implementation

BCF Solutions was selected for implementation o f an international ALMA Project Management Control System across the entire ALMA project -including Europe, North America and Chile. Our team of experts reviewed ALMA’s practices and tools and subsequently developed a plan to implement their Project Management Control System for the program. BCF’s specific experience with large scientific research projects enabled BCF to successfully support the project management in the development of their Earned Value Management Systems for ALMA.
